For instance, <a href=\"https:\/\/daxueconsulting.com\/virtual-livestream-fitness-trending-china\/\">Will Liu<\/a>, a famous singer and actor, went viral after he started livestreaming his exercise routine on Douyin (the Chinese Tiktok). Such a beauty standard fuelled major trends, such as the ongoing hashtag \u201c\u7b77\u5b50\u817f\u201d \u2013 literally translated as \u201cchopstick legs\u201d \u2013 show social media users posting photos of their ultra-thin legs which resemble chopsticks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another ongoing trend is the \u201cBM style\u201d, whereby \u201cBM\u201d is the alias for clothing brand Brandy Melville. Unlike in the USA, BM in China has in fact&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chinosity.com\/2020\/10\/01\/brandy-melville-in-china-new-fashion-or-just-a-new-kind-of-body-shaming\/\"><strong>gained praise for being progressive<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;by encouraging girls to show more skin instead of \u201chiding\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, however, the \u201cpale, young, and thin\u201d ideal has increasingly become a topic of controversy.
